Your voice is vital. Tell your story. Educate your legislators.

Students: Join us for Olympia Days and take action!

Please join us in our efforts to support higher education for all Washingtonians! As the student arm of the College Promise Coalition, we mobilize the student voice across the 34 public 2-year community colleges, the six public 4-year baccalaureate institutions, and the 10 private not-for-profit college campuses around issues of education attainment and equity.

The Why and How of WA-SEN

  • We believe hearing directly from students about the student experience is the most powerful tool legislators can harness to make informed decisions.
  • We build student networks and give them the skills and tools they need to share their stories with legislators.
  • We host an annual Student Summit in the fall, with guest speakers and workshops to improve engagement, organizing, and communication skills.
  • We recruit students to participate in legislative gatherings, including town halls, in-district meetings, and community events.
  • We offer student grants for projects that amplify student voices.
  • We believe training grounded in equitable access to education beyond high school leading through the lens of race and those most marginalized serves all Washingtonians.
  • In February of each year, we host students and sponsor meetings with legislators during an annual Legislative Day in Olympia.

Legislators: Learn about the student experience

We collaborate across more than 50 college campuses and amplify the student voice in a cohesive unified manner when and where it is needed most. The primary function of WA-SEN is to connect student constituents new to the legislative process with policymakers at the district level, and annually during the legislative session. This contact year-round offers a student-centered perspective to higher education in Washington.
